“You want them to project their furnishings and their family into the home. If it’s cluttered, you can’t think—you can’t see the space or imagine yourself in it.” —Renee Reese
After raising their three children, Renee began her real estate career at Shea Homes in 2004, showing model homes to prospective buyers. But on the weekends, she worked open houses as she and Eric built what would become The Reese Team. She quickly found she had a knack for working with people, learning about their goals, and helping them find the right home to meet their needs. Renee also began staging homes to go on the market while Eric focused on listing agreements and sales contracts. “I was on the creative end as far as preparing the homes,” she says. “My garage is still full of vignettes!”
As the team’s success grew, Renee left her day job to work full-time with Eric in 2006 and has since become an Accredited Staging Professional, sourcing furniture and accessories far beyond their garage to beautify each home before it’s photographed and listed. “The staging complements the photography,” she says, and while you don’t want to decorate so much that a buyer can’t imagine filling the home’s rooms with their own possessions, she explains, “there’s just enough there to look homey and inviting.”
